2nd Annual North Georgia Live Steamers Fall Meet - October 20th - 23rd
The number of days until our Fall Meet is getting smaller and smaller. We are just a week away and are excited to share our railroad with others in this great hobby. We have received word from groups from Florida, Tennessee, South Carolina, Alabama, and Georgia are going to be making their way to the railroad. For those that are wondering this is private event and is NOT part of our regular public run day events. All locomotive types are welcome and for those with steam engines we only require a hydrostatic test that is less than 12 months old to operate on the railroad. Hydro tests will be available during the meet.
For those arriving on Saturday please note that a high school cross country meet will be taking place next to our property so don’t get scared with all of the school buses and people. Our entrance will be towards the end of the line of school buses and a police officer is typically patrolling our entrance giving us and others a hand during days like this.

Recap of our Public Run Day On Saturday, October 1st
We are so thankful so many came out to enjoy our railroad this past Saturday. The day was well attended and provided everyone a chance to see several different types of trains running. At some points of the day, we ran seven trains at the same time hauling more than 200 passengers an hour. We also want to thank our volunteer staff who came out and helped make the day a success as well. As many of you know we are non-profit organization and the proceeds generated during our run day help pay for all aspects of the railroad and more. Without our volunteers and those who came out to enjoy the railroad none of this is possible.

Fall 2022 Meet Volunteer Details (October 20-23)
We are just a few weeks away from our big event and this year we have several visitors that have already notified that they will be attending. To be prepared to handle our visitors and members we are looking for help in several areas to make this year a success. Below you will find what we are looking for help with and a way to sign up.
Check-In Coordinator & Staff - The plan at this point is to use the blue tent as the check-in / registration location. This will be where people sign waivers and given direction on parking and unloading. The idea is to setup the blue tent by the main gate and catch people before they get completely into the property. We may also want to setup the Yellow Train Ride flag to give another visibility for our visitors especially on Saturday when the cross-country meet is going on in the morning.
Unloading / Loading Coordinator / Staff- We will need someone who will be responsible for coordinating the unloading and loading of trailers.
Yard Master Coordinator & Staff - Need someone to help shuttle trains being unloaded / loaded to the yard or siding that trains will be stored on. This will require the use of a locomotive (i.e., club diesel).

Parking Coordinator & Staff - Need someone to coordinate the parking of vehicles and trailers during the event. For those arriving early we may want to place trailers on the west side of the railroad inside the fence area to save space elsewhere for those arriving on Saturday. We may also want to mark areas that people should not park like hazards, drainpipes, etc. Please remember that Saturday morning all vehicles must be parked within the fence because of a cross country event going on until about 1 p.m.
Security & Overnight Camping Coordinator & Staff - Need someone to coordinate overnight camping and security detail of the site.
If anyone has flood lights that are either on a stand or can be clipped to a structure that could be used to provide lighting around the property during the meet would be greatly appreciated as well.

Recap of an impromptu morning work session on Wednesday, July 27th
With all the heat and some rain over the past few of week’s progress on the next member container had slowed but things got back on track over the past week. Last week Bill Cross from Shepphard Trucking delivered gravel but could not be dumped in the location of the container because of ground conditions. Fast forward to yesterday Wes went out and compacted and smoothed out the area the gravel needs to be spread so today Bill Cross could come out and spread gravel. The next step for the container is to schedule the delivery and then the real fun begins. On Tuesday, Wes also dug out around the driveway drain so we can get the drain cover installed.
