A big shout out to our membership for making Saturday’s run day a success
Thank you to every member who came out and made Saturday’s run day a success. The weather held off and people came and enjoyed the railroad and conversations with so many of our members throughout the afternoon making it a great way for us to share our hobby with so many. We gave nearly 500 rides throughout the afternoon which is consistent with our May run days over the past several years. As we move into the summer months, we have a couple of club fun days coming up in June along with some plans to get some projects done around the railroad. If you have availability to help out with a project this summer, please let us know. Here are a few examples of what we plan on working on over the next few months:
Grandma Line - Plans are underway to bring in more dirt which means we will be ready to install track during the summer months
Club House / Workshop Project - Plans are to install a couple more interior walls and ceiling sections in the first container. We are also looking to get the lift installed this summer.
Track & Equipment Maintenance - On going track and equipment maintenance
Signal System - As we get closer to completing the Grandma Line installation a permanent signal system for the main grade crossing can now move forward. More details on this project to follow.
For a list of all of the projects that are currently in progress, planned, or discussed visit our projects page on our website for more details. If you have a project, you would like to work on don’t hold back let everyone know and see if anyone else would like to help get started. Make it a group effort.
Speaking of taking on a project John is looking for some member recommendations on the container mural. He said he is running out of container brands to paint and is looking for recommendations and donations to help pay for the supplies. John recommends a $75 donation with $25 going towards supplies and $50 as a donation to the club. If you’d like to make a donation to the container mural project you can do so by either mailing a donation (North Georgia Live Steamers, P.O. Box 1809, Conyers, Georgia 30012) or by making a donation online. We are also in the early stages of the next container mural and details about that mural can be found on the project page as well.
